June 2011, Midsummer Music - A selection of choruses from opera and oratorio presented at Milton Abbey May 2011, Serenade to Music - Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music for choir and four soloists set the scene for a lyrical evening of romance and passion. With Elgar's Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands and Beethoven’s dramatic Mass in C major Op. 86 composed in 1807. Read a review here. A concert featuring Haydn's Little Organ Mass and popular choruses from oratorio and opera. March 29th 2010 - Bach St John Passion. Tim Dickinson and Martin Hindmarsh (Christus and Evangelist), with Soprano Amy Carson and Mezzo Lucie Spickova. Professional orchestra, drawn from musicians across the West Country, led by Louise Bevan.The celebration of the Easter Festival came early to Beaminster when the Beaminster Singers gave a performance of Bach’s St John Passion at St Mary’s Church on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. There is a great tradition of performing this substantial and complex work at this time of year. November 28th 2009 - Haydn's Creation. Abbi Temple, Martin Hindmarsh and Tim Dickinson joined us for a sell-out performance of The Creation. The intensity and conviction that radiated from both soloists and choir was central to the evening's success. May 23rd 2009 - Choruses from Opera and Oratorio. An evening of drama, romance and celestial visions featuring extracts from Carmen, Il Trovatore, La Traviata and Nabucco as well as some of the most moving and exciting choruses from Faure's Requiem, Mozart's Vespers and Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle. February 21st 2009 in St Mary's Bridport - Ode to Joy, a joint concert with Bridport's New Elizabethan Singers in a birthday celebration for their principal sponsor, Alan Williams. The programme included Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus RV594, Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Haydn's Surprise Symphony and featured young musicians from the Richard Ely Trust. December 13th 2008 - In dulci jubilo. An advent concert featuring Somervell's Christmas Cantata, Mozart's Mass in C KV258 and the Christmas music from Handel's Messiah. May 24th 2008 - Our 20th Anniversary Concert. Mozart Requiem, Charpentier Te Deum, Handel Zadok the Priest and Emrys Jones Morte Criste. Read a review here.
